Paul asks…
Do all orthodontists use lip/cheek retractors while while putting on braces?
i was wondering if all orthodontists use lip retractors to hold the mouth open while putting on braces? Anyone know?
admin answers:
Most of them do. And dont worry, its not as bad as everybody claims….you dont have your mouth open for THAT long, and they give you time to close it.

Joseph asks…
do they use cheek retractors over and over?
Hi, when i go to the orthodontist they put that thing in your mouth to keep it open while they put braces on your teeth. Do they use a new one each time or has someone used it before you?
admin answers:
Every one is brand new. Never been used before, and never will be used again. Ask to watch them take it out of the package!

Mark asks…
Are cheek retractors supposed to hurt?
My friend went 2 get her braces on and d next day her cheeks were red and bumpy! It was so freaky. And it wasn’t d braces coz it was on d outside
admin answers:
On the outside- you mean on her skin , on her face?
Retractors are not supposed to injure a patient in any way but she should tell her dentist and orthodontist in case she was having a reaction to perhaps a sterilization solution or maybe his latex gloves.
