Paul asks…
What’s the difference between Than and Then?
Wasup yahoo,
I’m not a grammer guru, obviously. I need help with a
few things people keep irking me about- My
grammer I suppose.
Anyway, what’s the difference between Then and
Than?
If I were to write: I saw the pig fly by, than I knew it
was a dream!
Is this correct?
Also, I think I got there, their, and they’re
straightened out. However, could you include it in
your answer please?
That reminds me. You’re and your. What’s the
difference?
Thanks!
admin answers:
Than means your comparing one thing to another of being greater/better. Compared is another word for “than”
for example: i do more hard work than you….i do more hard work compared to you
then is just another word for “next”
for example: i’m going to work first, then i will take the dogs out for a walk….i’m going to work first, next i will take the dogs out for a walk
hope it helps!

Donna asks…
How can I tell the difference between “than” and “then”?
I’m old enough to know the difference between than and then but I still don’t.I was hoping there’s a trick or something to it.
admin answers:
“Than” is a comparative. Examples: I am older than you. This is worse than that.
“Then” refers to time. Examples: I do this now and then. Then we did something else.

Sandra asks…
Can someone give me some sentence examples to help me notice the difference between ‘than’ and ‘then’?
l need to improve my English more for when l do my Business First Diploma in September as it’s really important to know what you are saying when doing assignments and producing presentations and documents. Sentences would help me improve this alot, and what are the differences between Than and Then?
Thanks ![]()

admin answers:
First you look left, THEN you look right, before pulling into traffic.
Blue is a better color for you THAN purple.
One dark and gloomy night, I saw a shadow outside my window, THEN started screaming in panic.
Other THAN that, you may want to know that “alot” is not a word. It is correctly written as “a lot,” but is generally frowned upon by English teachers.
Hope this helps

Donald asks…
Whats the difference between then and than?
what exactly does then mean and what does than mean?
admin answers:
Then is used to express an incident within a time interval, whether it be the past (i.e. “i never used to do that back then” or “now and then”) or what is to become in the future, as a series of steps (i.e. “if this happens, then this will happen”).
Than is used as a means of comparison (i.e. That girl is prettier than the other girl” or “i’m wiser now than before”).
