Natural Beauty Tips from all over the world
As time strides ahead, the first thing that noticeably damage is our skin. The other factors contributing are pollutants, unhealthy diet and lack of sleep plus Stress. Human skin loses its glow and starts aging sooner than later. It’s no wonder that almost every woman is out there looking for proven clear skin remedy.
1. MINT
Indigenous to the Mediterranean and Western Asia, the mint plant contains menthol (which gives it that characteristic cooling, cleansing feeling). Apply Fresh Mint juice over the face every night for the cure of pimples. For a soothing body pack, grind mint leaves in pestle and mortar. Add the juice of a lemon. Mix it with warm water and apply all over your body. Leave it till it dries and rinse with warm water.
Mint also has established medicinal uses for a clear skin remedy. In summer, drink lemonade with crushed mint leaves to feel cool. A mint-based face paste (applied once a week) is useful in treating eczema, insect stings, scabies and other skin infections.
2. PAPAYA
Most people are clueless about the skin care properties of papaya. This tropical fruit contains the enzyme Papain, which has great antibacterial and wound healing abilities. The enzyme also aids in getting rid of dead skin. Papaya is widely used in wound care, and routine facial application of papaya juice helps lessen freckles or brown spots due to sunlight exposure or aging.
Here is a papaya-based mask for all skin types. Take ¼ cup of cocoa, 2 teaspoons of cream, ¼ cup ripe papaya, ¼ cup honey and 2 teaspoons of oatmeal powder. Mix and apply to your face. After 10 minutes, wash your face with lukewarm water.
3. WALNUT
The most common walnut is the English walnut, which originated the regions surrounding the Caspian Sea (it is therefore also known as the Persian walnut). They are considered as a great skin care ingredient and are widely used in the cosmetic industry. In traditional Chinese medicine, walnuts are used in preparing kidney tonics.
Finely ground walnut powder gently exfoliates dead skin to carry off impurities that ordinary cleansing cannot tackle. Mix 2 tablespoons plain yogurt with 2 teaspoons of finely ground walnuts. Wet your face and gently scrub the skin. Avoid scrubbing under the eyes. Rinse after 20 minutes with tepid water. Use this walnut-based scrub once a week for visibly clear skin.
4. RICE FLOUR
Rice flour has been an frequently used ingredient to treat blemishes, wrinkles and pigmentation. 1 tablespoon of rice flour with 2 tablespoons of yogurt (avoid non-fat) makes for an effective cleansing milk. For a simple rice flour pack, mix ¼ cup of rice flour, ¼ cup of milk and 1 tbsp honey. Coat your face and neck and rinse off after 20 minutes. It’s a wonderful remedy for wrinkles and it also cleans your skin.
5. COCONUT
The transparent coconut water that comes out when the young coconut is first opened has the exact mineral content of human blood.
Washing your face with tender coconut water will keep it blemish free. Apply a paste of red sandal powder and coconut milk (different from coconut water) results in soft and glowing skin.
6. CUCUMBER
Cucumber has great hydrating, nourishing and astringent resources. They have the same pH as the skin thus help to restore the skin’s natural acid function. Regular use of cucumber prevents pimples, blackheads, wrinkles and dry skin.
With over 95% water content, cucumber is a cooling cleanser. Mix cucumber juice with milk and use it instead of a cleanser. Apply cucumber juice or grated cucumber over the face to soothe skin eruptions. To say goodbye to dark circles, apply grated cucumber mixed with an equal measure of carrot juice. Rest for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water. Cucumber also offers a soothing relief for sunburn and itchy skin.
7. LEMON
This citrus-rich fruit is the most versatile beauty aid you can have. Lemon contains cleansing enzymes that remove the skin of dead cells and provide the cheapest clear skin remedy. With its marvellous astringent properties, lemon is a natural antiseptic and a boon for oily skin. Mix a little alum with the juice of half a lemon. Pat this mixture on your face for an instant refreshing skin toner.
Apply a mixture of grapes, lemon and egg white. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with tepid water. The lemon will cleanse your skin, grapes will soften it and egg whites will tighten it. Rub half a lemon over rough spots and elbows to make them soft. Another instant refresher is grated apple skin with equal amounts of apple juice and lemon juice. Apply for 15 minutes and wash off.
8. OLIVE OIL
Olive oil skin care takes advantage of the nutritive, comforting, and natural emollient qualities of the golden oil which is essential for beauty treatments since it was first extracted and processed.
Olive oil is a source of Squalene, which is then hydrogenated into Squalane, a derivative that is less easily prone to oxidation. Squalane used to be only available from sharks, but is also available in a very effective and more ecologically friendly form made from olive oil. Nature has given us a facelift in a bottle in the form of Squalane. Natural Squalane is also found in the sebum of human skin, and functions as an oxygen carrier.
Olive oil is well known to offer health benefits when used in conjunction with a healthy diet. The high proportion of vitamin E and other antioxidants help fight free radicals (by products of metabolism which are dangerous and aging to your cells).
Try a scrub with olive oil in the shower, shave with it, smooth it on after your shower, pour it in your bath water, rub it on to dry elbows, knees, or anywhere else that needs softening or hydration. You’ll wonder how soft and glowing your skin is! An equal quantity of Sweet Almond oil with Extra Virgin Olive oil is also good to reduce dark circles around eyes.
9. HONEY
Honey is a natural humectant, which means it has the ability to attract and retain moisture. For centuries, honey has been used in cooking and for medicinal purposes. Honey contains potassium, and it is the only natural food that will not spoil. It’s an anti-irritant. It’s anti-bacterial. It contains Alpha Hydroxy acids.
Honey helps heal wounds and lesions by repelling bacteria while drawing moisture to the area in the form of bodily fluids and nutrients. It also contains enzymes introduced by the bees that can accelerate healing. Use honey as a cleanser. Just smooth all over your face and rinse off! After 15 minutes. Good for all skin types.
Exfoliate with a honey sugar scrub. Use your extra virgin olive oil (cold-pressed, of course), and mix with sugar, honey and lemon juice to a nice grainy consistency. You can use this on your face or your body. Scrub gently, rinse and pat dry.
10. Aloe Vera
The gel of the Aloe Vera plant is found when you snap a leaf open and the jelly like substance inside is revealed. Aloe Vera gel can soothe and help repair skin that has been damaged, as anyone who has used it for kitchen burns already knows. It can appease and moisturize skin conditions such as eczema.
Naturally occurring anti-inflammatory and healing qualities make it a good choice for rashes, insect bits, acne, sunburns and mild kitchen burns. The benefits of this soothing plant make it one of the most popular natural skin care ingredients. For sun burns keep an Aloe Vera plant in or near the kitchen for quick relief.
Moisturizes skin. A skin “cream” made of Aloe Vera and olive oil and applied nightly will enhance the benefits of the olive oil and help repair the damaged skin. For a soothing facial, apply the gel to your face and let it set for 15 minutes. Wash off with a cool washcloth, and enjoy the benefits!
