Dog Teeth Cleaning Gel: Salmon or Mint?
There are safer and More Effective dog teeth cleaning products now available on the market for canine owners. These products do not have the same side effects and possible consequences as does the most common form of cleaning dog teeth known as teeth scaling. This procedure is done in the vet’s office and offers substantial risk, especially for older dogs.
The canine teeth cleaning gel on the market today often comes in two flavors. This option probably has more to do with the pet owners than it does the dogs’ preferences. Felines are another story, but most dogs are not picky at all when it comes to anything that “might” be some kind of food. Humans have a difficult time with this concept. People are very into “flavor” of their foods and even their own toothpastes they use for their teeth.
Basically, there are 2 flavors available on the market today: mint and salmon oil
It may seem odd that a dog would be interested in anything “mint” flavored, but most of them never raise an eyebrow when the opportunity arises to have it in their mouths. Actually, successfully cleaning a canine’s teeth with an all natural and safe gel product, whether it be a spray or a gel, depends much more on how the owner approaches the procedure. If the canine owner goes too fast in the beginning and causes the cleaning process to become too stressful, the procedure in the future can be all but a lost cause.
Although the flavor does not matter with respect to how easy of process the cleaning is for your canine, there can be a slight difference in the effectiveness of the cleaning gel or spray. It is thought that the salmon oil flavor may actually be more effective in removing tartar from the canine’s teeth.
By the way, regardless of the type of dog toothpaste you choose, always remember that it is vital to the success of the procedure that the dog not eat or drink anything for at least a half hour after the cleaning. Actually, it is best to do the cleaning at night before bed time and not allow the canine to have any water or food before going to sleep.
This will ensure the gel or spray time to effectively dissolve the plaque on the teeth much more rapidly. Additionally, it is thought that twice a day tooth cleanings in the early days. This will provide the quickest possible dissolving of the teeth plaque.
Some owners report better results with the salmon oil flavor. The reason for this is that the salmon may in fact help remove the Tooth Plaque at a quicker rate than other flavoring does. If this is the case, it is definitely suggested that dogs use the salmon flavor version of the dog teeth cleaning toothpastes.
If one has a choice, always select the oil version of the flavor if at all possible. Most of the products available today offer that option for their dog teeth cleaning products.
