Professional Teeth Whitening Trays Questions

Ruth asks…
What do you do to whiten your teeth?
I want the most cost effective, quick dramatic results. I have some bonding done, and I know it won’t really change colors, but I’m getting the bonding redone, and when they take off the old bonding, I’m going to whiten my teeth and they’re going to match the new bonding. I hate Aquafresh White trays, I used them and they bleached my gums and made me bleed actually. Crest Whitestrips worked nicely, any other options? (Besides professional.)
Thanks!
Chelsea

One popular Tooth Whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually Carbamide Peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations.
Whiteners that contain peroxide typically come in gel form and are placed in a mouthguard. Some products are used twice a day for 2 weeks while others are intended for overnight use for a 1 to 2 weeks period. If you can obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he will be able to construct a custom Mouth Guard to fit your teeth precisely. Currently, the American Dental Association endorses only dentist-dispensed home-use percent carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels.
In addition to bleaching solution, Whitening Strips are increasingly being used as a preferred tooth whitening product. For instance, you are now able to get your hands on a set of Crest Whitestrips Supreme from any convenience store. The flexible, invisible strips are coated with an enamel-safe Tooth Bleaching gel. To whiten your teeth, you simply place the strips on your teeth and wear them for about 15 to 30 minutes each day. After a period of about 21 days, you should be able to see a significant difference on the brightness of your teeth.

Helen asks…
AQUAFRESH White Trays…do they really work?
ok so me and my best friend are thinking about trying them, the only problem is that we’ve been looking at reviews from people that have used them and they have been saying that this product gave them white spots and made their teeth sensitive. we’re not buying the strips because everyone says they’re dangerous and have had bad experiences with them. can i have a professionals opinion on this product? we really want whiter teeth but we want to make sure that we don’t have white spots.
thanks in advance
ps: we’re not considering a professional whitening because its way too much money and we’re 15.

Why dont you go for home teeth whitening tip or methods of teeth whitening, used by people around the world, which are as follows:
1. Application of a paste of lemon juice and salt in the yellowish tint of the teeth is a wonderful way of eradicating that dull color of the teeth.
2. Rubbing the inner white part of an orange peel in the discolored teeth gives a lovely white shine.
3. Regular use of paste of bi-carbonate of soda with water removes the surface stain from the teeth.
4. Dried and powdered Bay leaves combined with dried orange peel also acts as an excellent whitener.
All these Home Teeth Whitening Methods when done regularly can give an excellent result.

John asks…
Aquafresh Trays or Crest Whitestrips?
I am 15 and just getting my braces off this December days before my sweet 16th party. Because of the braces my teeth are yellowy and I need to know which white strip (available at Shoppers or common chain stores for under $50) is the healthiest and quickest way whiten teeth without causing harm! Please let me know from personal experience or professional opinion! Thanks so much!

Both of these are very effective. The part that you’ll want to think about is the method. Crest White Strips are less uncomfortable to use because you don’t have to have a plastic tray in your mouth for half an hour. However, they also only whiten your front 6-8 teeth. For most people this isn’t a big deal because those are the only teeth people see, but if you have a really wide smile, you’ll end up with some teeth that aren’t as white as others. I think they both take 7-10 days, although the Classic box for Crest is the cheapest and it takes two weeks. I think that Aquafresh also has a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide, so more people have problems with sensitivity than do with Crest. Either way you should use them as directed. Don’t try to use a whole box in one day or leave them on longer than they’re supposed to be on – this can be really damaging to your teeth.
Good luck!

Sandy asks…
which one should i use?
from the experience of others which should i try:
A: Listerine Whitening Strips
B: Aquafresh White Trays
i have the Listerine strips right now and they taste terrible in my opinion. i also have a hard time getting them to stick to my teeth. i guess its a matter of opening my mouth to a point where nothing is in the way. (for example my lips. especially the bottom one) and i don’t exactly have time to sit in the morning and wait to peal other strips off. i was thinking about the Aquafresh trays because i assume they would be easier to use. from those who have tried this stuff before. what would be better? professional whitening treatments from my dentist is out of the question right now.
