Linda asks…
I have a sonicare toothbrush and, even though it has sat on the charger all night…?
…it turns off after a few seconds. What is wrong? How can I fix it? It is the kind with the toothpaste inside.
but I have always just left it on the charger all day and night

Most likely you didn’t let the battery get fully charged the first few times before using it….. The more you do that, the less charge the battery can hold + you can only recharge them so many times before they can’t be charged anymore and need replacing.
So, my best guess is that the battery is f***ed to the point where it can’t be recharged fully anymore,

Ruth asks…
How long does the rechargeable Oral B Sonicare Complete last? Mine is less than 3 yrs old and acting up…?
despite being on the charger 24/7. I don’t know if it’s shorting out, the battery needs replaced if it can’t hold a charge or what the problem is. It works sometimes but a lot of times shuts off on its own during use and won’t come back on as though it’s dead.

Probably the battery is no longer functioning. 3 years time sounds about right for this to happen. I do not know if Oral B can offer a battery replacement or not. If I remember correctly, I think when the Oral B lady came to our office, she said that they do not provide new batteries. I think they kind of assume that customers will buy a new one after a few years (which, yes, I think is lame…).

Joseph asks…
How do I recharge my phillips sonicare?
I have the Charger, or holder where you put it in, but theres no indication that you can actually CHARGE it. it just kind of sits there.

Sonicare toothbrushes use different types of chargers, depending on the model. The FlexCare R910 has a long-lasting lithium ion battery, and comes with a deluxe charger that can store extra Brush Heads. The FlexCare RS930 comes with a UV sanitizer that has a deluxe charger built in, as well as a compact charger for travel. Sonicare Healthy White models also have a deluxe charger with Brush Head storage. The Advance, Elite and Essence models have a compact charger base with a place to wrap the cord. Although these bases look similar, they are not compatible with each other. Unlike other types of Sonicare toothbrushes, the Sonicare Xtreme uses two AA batteries. When the batteries that are included with the toothbrush wear out, users can replace them with standard AA batteries.

Sandy asks…
Sonicare battery- charge daily or when it runs out?
The directions say that you are supposed to leave the toothbrush on the charger when not in use, although it will hold a charge for a week. However, my fiance said that the type of battery that Sonicare uses, a nickel-cadmium, is the type that you are supposed to let run out completely before charging to extend its life.
Anyone have any info?
admin answers:
Your fiance is correct. I have a Sonicare and I’ve always recharged it only once or twice a week. So far, it’s lasted nearly 6 years without a battery change.
Occasionally , NiCD batteries die by flipping polarity when they are totally discharged. I’d recommend the twice a week routine to avoid that.
According to Sonicare’s web site, it takes about 15 hours to completely recharge. Also, you’ll save energy / go green by unplugging the base/charger in between charges.
